Mammoth Cave

Mammoth Cave (and yes it IS a MAMMOTH CAVE) is something different from what we are used to. When people think of caves they think of stalactites and stalagmites. They also think of the coolness and darkness. While Mammoth Cave is cool and dark, it actually has just a few of the classic cave formations. This is because there is a layer of sandstone laying on top of the cave preventing water to seep down into the ground. The reason why Mammoth Cave is so special is that it is HUGE. Mammoth Cave has over 300 miles of explored passages. There is only one part of this figure that is wrong. Many passages lie under water and also have unexplored passages. Plus, some believe that that the cave is still growing! This site is just one that is like no other.
